The Trager Approach in your Personal or Professional Life

During their training, the practitioners learn to develop the same qualities for themselves that they would like to pass on.

"It's the way I touch," said Milton Trager, "not the technique that is important.” This is why Trager® Practitioners learn to ‘listen’ to the body by soft touch and communicate to the tissue via light, rhythmic movements that resonate through the body. These waves send messages through the central nervous system to our unconscious mind that new, positive perceptions, new ways of being can be felt in the body, such as lightness, mobility and freedom.

Certification in the Trager Approach involves three core Modules, Mentastics® (a special movement module), Anatomy & Physiology, tutorials and fieldwork.
In Level 1, the student learns the full curriculum, how to develop the Trager® touch, give a full Trager session and understand limits and boundaries.
Levels 2 and 3, and the other requisites of the certification process serve to deepen these qualities and to broaden the understanding of everything involved in giving fully qualified and effective Trager sessions.

Trager practitioners learn to read the client’s habitual movement patterns and to teach them how to easily shift to a more comfortable and efficient way to move through space. Clients may be standing, sitting and lying on a massage table and may remain fully dressed if they wish so. Softness and ease and respectful communication are the guiding principles in Trager sessions and trainings.
